Lower School After School Clubs, Classes, & Activities
We are excited to offer after-school clubs, classes and activities for our lower school students at First Presbyterian Academy at Shannon Forest this year! We have chosen activities that we hope will interest the artistic, athletic and academic-minded students. Some of these activities will be available for the full school year and others will run by semester only.
These programs will start after school at 3:00 pm. Please note that yearly programs are handled on a monthly basis and do not require a yearly contract.
You can sign your student up for an after-school activity without signing up for after school enrichment, as long as you pick your child up from the activity at the scheduled time. If you plan to have your child stay at school past the pick-up time for the chosen activity, you will need to sign them up for our late stay program and the after school enrichment staff will stay until 5:30 pm.
Please follow the link below each club description to register. You will be required to register for each club individually and submit payment for each club separately to reserve a place in the program. Please note that Greenville Academy of Martial and Kidokinetics are outside organizations. If you are interested in participating in either of those programs please email Adrian Macerola - amacerola@firstpresacademy.com.
Game Lab: Strategy and Game Design
Students will explore a variety of board, card, and logic games that develop strategic thinking, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making. Each meeting will include opportunities to learn new games, practice different strategies, and reflect on what makes a game challenging and enjoyable. Students may also modify existing games or create simple games of their own. Beginners are welcome, and no previous experience is required.
As part of the course, students will also learn how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). They will develop an understanding of game rules, strategy, sportsmanship, and deck-building fundamentals. Students will have opportunities to participate in friendly Pokémon tournaments, test their skills using their own personal decks, and receive guidance on improving existing decks or building new ones from scratch. Whether they are brand new to the game or experienced players, students will strengthen their strategic thinking while enjoying a fun and supportive competitive environment.
