A Private Christian School for Grades 6-8

From your own experience, you know that middle school is more than just a few awkward years — it’s a time when your child starts to figure out who they really are.

The environment they’re in matters deeply because it shapes how they grow academically, emotionally, and spiritually. During this critical stage, they’ll be discovering their unique gifts and beginning to develop the confidence and character that will guide them for years to come.

We prioritize creating a safe and respectful environment for every student. We have a multi-faceted approach to keeping our campus secure for learning. Also, our focus on relationships fosters open communication, ensuring that students feel respected and valued. When issues arise, we address them thoughtfully, understanding that misbehavior often has underlying causes, and work to support both sides in a loving and constructive way. By staying proactive and engaged, we maintain a culture where mistreating others is not tolerated and students are equipped to thrive in a safe and caring community.

At First Presbyterian Academy, our middle school program is thoughtfully designed to make these years impactful and rewarding. It’s a season of growth where your child will be nurtured, challenged, and inspired in all the right ways.

Below, you’ll find a brief overview of what we offer, including:

A Culture that Builds Confidence, Responsibility, and Lasting Friendships

Middle school is a time when your child needs challenging academics and a supportive community that loves and cares for them as they grow. At First Presbyterian Academy, we’ve built a culture that emphasizes connection, respect, and support to help students grow into confident and compassionate individuals.

  • A Family-Centered Community
At FPA, our commitment to loving and supporting one another is unwavering. Together, we strive to ensure no need goes unmet and every member of our community feels valued.
  • Fostering Strong Relationships
Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. Older students regularly step in to tutor younger ones, and teachers mentor middle schoolers through life’s challenges. Small class sizes and programs like Discover Groups help our entire school build meaningful connections.
  • Character Development Through Faith
Character growth is built on a biblical worldview, with Bible classes as a core part of every student’s day. These lessons prepare students to make thoughtful decisions and approach moral challenges with clarity and faith. This intentional focus on character helps middle schoolers grow into individuals who live with integrity and kindness, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Guiding Wise Choices
Our grace-filled approach to discipline teaches students the power of making wise decisions. By focusing on discipleship and natural consequences, we help middle schoolers see the benefits of positive actions and guide them in developing accountability.

A Foundation for Lifelong Learning and Leadership

Academic Rigor

Our middle school program gives students the tools they need to thrive in high school and beyond. Challenging academics, grounded in a biblical worldview, encourage them to think deeply and tackle real-world topics. Students learn to analyze, question, and articulate their ideas through engaging activities like classroom debates on complex issues.

Leadership Opportunities

Leadership is cultivated through programs like National Junior Honor Society and Central Spirit Committee, where students plan events and serve their peers. Some middle schoolers even volunteer to help set up the chapel for services or welcome prospective families as Student Ambassadors.

Enriched Learning

Middle school students can explore their interests through popular electives like STEM, zoology, drama, choir, visual art, and physical education. Clubs such as Art Club, Weightlifting Club, Chess Club, and our spring musical production give students creative outlets to discover their passions and develop unique talents in a supportive environment.

Competitive Athletics

Our athletic program fosters teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. We offer a variety of team sports that give middle school students the opportunity to play and compete at the highest level while developing fundamentally, physically, and spiritually.

A Pathway to High School Success

Welcoming Start

Sixth-grade orientation provides a welcoming start, helping students transition smoothly into middle school.

Key Skills

At First Presbyterian Academy, middle school is a time for students to grow in independence, self-advocacy, and time management — key skills they’ll need for high school and beyond. During the first nine weeks, teachers guide students through these important lessons in a way that feels natural and engaging, so they develop these abilities without even realizing it.

Future-Ready

By eighth grade, students reflect on their growth by writing letters to their future senior selves. These letters are returned to them at graduation, reminding them of how far they’ve come.
