The First Presbyterian Academy (FPA) Concert Choir, at the Shannon Forest campus, has been chosen to perform in the world-renowned music venue, Carnegie Hall, in collaboration with the finest school-age singers in the United States and beyond!

WorldStrides OnStage Programs rewards the most elite music groups in the country with the opportunity to perform at the world-famous Carnegie Hall on the Ronald O. Perelman Stage as part of the National Youth Choir. The FPA Concert Choir was invited to perform after receiving Gold Medals at Worldstrides OnStage Festivals in Nashville, New York City, and Myrtle Beach. The Concert Choir also participated in the Festival at Carnegie Hall in 2018. Members of the Concert Choir will join with some of the best singers in the country to work with guest conductor Tesfa Wondemagegnehu from April 1, to April 4, 2022.  

“Tesfa Wondemagegnehu has been sharing the transformative art of vocal music for more than a decade,” said Meghann Oglesby, Producer at American Public Media Group. “He is a choral director, composer, educator and performer from Memphis, Tennessee. Currently, he is the conductor of the Viking Chorus and the Chapel Choir at St. Olaf College and his compositions are performed by regional choirs and all-states throughout the country.” 

The students will enjoy Time Square accommodations, attend Wicked on Broadway, and enjoy several sightseeing excursions including a sunset dinner and dancing cruise on the Hudson River. The trip will conclude with a performance from the National Youth Choir open to the public on Sunday, April 3, at Carnegie Hall.
